great show...
this was our second show this leg.
my wife and i spent our anniversary in albq. nm.so this time we took the boy to slc he has never seen any show besides warped circus
needless to say he was in awe
he had no idea...
sxdx didn't let us down. security was great. the guys let us take pictures as long as we didn't flash them...
the disposable we used 800 speed kodack has this flash feature that cant be shut off once it's used so we took photos of oppertunity...

Glad to hear about the show , due to a combination of the fact that the local Smith's no longer selling tickets (gee no SmithTix at Smiths that makes sense) and then not being able to get to the Ogden Smiths till Friday only to find out that they were SOLD OUT (The gal said she sold alot Thursday)

Looking now to get tickets for Feb 10 show, but SmithTix website doesnt list them as of yet, guess I will call them.

Hello, I have seen Social Distortion more times than I can count and I have to say I've never seen a bad show, of course I may be biased since I've been in love with Mike Ness since I was barely a teenager. I'm sure this show was great too, however I wouldn't know since this venue sucked. I was not able to get close enough to the stage to see anything and practically got trampled trying. Not that that wasn't expected, but there were too many people (in my opinion), although it was a "club", there were still a ton of people and it was difficult to get anywhere to see. I know Social D is a great band and it was nice to see so many people, but a lot of people didn't know anything about them... I wish those people could have been weeded out so the true fans could have had more room to appreciate the band and show.
I miss the good old days when I could go to see Social D in a smaller, more intimate venue and when Mike wasn't married so I could make out with him every time he was in town. Ahhh, the good old days. Oh well. I traveled from out of state to see this show and I am disappointed that I didn't actually get to see it, I suppose that is my fault for not trying harder. Maybe I'm just getting older and didn't want to get my ass kicked by sweaty people. I did get to talk to the other band members (excluding Mike) and I thought they were very cool and they did sound great even if I couldn't see!
Much love always, K

I have never been to this Venue, Last time they were in SLC it was at DV8 which was cool since it had 3 levels so you didnt have to be in the crowd if you didn't want to be.

Best location I had was working stage security at the old Speedway Cafe in SLC. Was kind of a pain since Mike was (is) an ass about anyone getting onstage during the gig, but was right there for the show

As an aside, the next gig I worked was the Circle Jerks, they were just the opposite, they wanted everyone on stage, so I was pretty much just able to stand there and watch the flow of people.

The Speedway Cafe was the first place I saw them and it was a great place to see them.
Like I said it was my fault for not getting to a better spot earlier... I wish it was at a smaller place so that wouldn't have been a problem. DV8 was good and you could see from anywhere.
Next time I'll remember.
